Course Description

This nationally accredited course provides comprehensive information to allow clients to appropriately identify and prevent the development of workplace emergency situations, or to minimise their consequences, and to report if emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems are compromised.

This course has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745—2010.

The Unit of Competencies covered is: PUAWER001B.

Certification

This is an accredited training course and as such there are written and practical assessments. Upon successful completion, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be awarded within the AQTF and under the authority of the NSW Vocational Educational & Training Act.

Course Overview

At the conclusion of this course, clients will be able to:

  • Communicate effectively according to workplace procedures and accepted safe practices
  • Correctly identify situations in the workplace that may lead to emergencies and apply safe work practices that help to prevent emergencies
  • Identify hazards in the workplace that reduce the effectiveness of emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems
  • Monitor the work area to identify new and emerging risks on an on-going basis
  • Identify and report situations that may lead to or contribute to workplace incidents and/or emergencies

Participation

There is a minimum of 6 and maximum of 15 clients per program. This course is conducted from various Fire & Rescue NSW Training Facilities.
